Astro Saber II with 1meg Vocon.
Is it easy to convert a 146-174 radio to a 136-174 radio, (for example just bit banging the firmware) or is that a hardware problem.
I have my eye on one for ham use but I realized later it is a 146+ bandsplit.
Even tricking the CPS is good enough for what I want to do.
Thoughts? Searching for anything containing "astro" or "saber" is always such a chore.
Thanks,
Kyle

An Astro Saber is already capable of 136-174 out of the box.
Are you thinking of a different radio?

Thank you. I thought that was the case, but when I decoded the model number I got 146-174 split, which if you check the batlabs AS page shows as one of the possible splits.
I've never seen one that didn't do 136, but after reading I thought I must have been wrong.

I have never had an issue programming or using the amateur 145.XXX freqs into a 146-174MHz Spectra Mobile and I'm pretty sure the portable will act the same, which is a flagged error in CPS that you can pretty much ignore.
