Astro 25 version 14 CPS and XTL5000 on 800 - question

Post by Jim202 »

Have installed the new CPS version of Astro 25 mobile R14.00.00 and read an XTL5000 on 800
MHz that was programmed with version R13.00.01.

I made a minor change by adding just one MPL to the MPL list. Didn't program a button on
the control head. When I try to save to the radio, it gives me the following message:

You are about to write / clone to a non rebanding codeplug to a rebanding capable radio.
Do you wish to continue? Yes / No.

To keep this simple, there are no trunking systems programmed in the radio at this point.
Only conventional channels. My guess is that the message is only telling me that the
radio can do rebanding. Want to make sure that in clicking the "YES" button, that no
future issues will crop up when a rebanded trunking system gets programmed in.

Anyone have any feedback on this?

Prior to Astro25 R13, the Trunking > Trunking Configuration > General > Rebanding Enabled checkbox was a read-only field that was based on whether the codeplug had that bit enabled or not (and by extension, when the codeplug was last read from the radio, had the radio been upgraded to a new enough firmware revision to enable that bit in the first place).

From R13 forward, that checkbox was made user selectable - ostensibly so that you could read a non-rebanded radio, and build a post-rebanded template from it prior to hitting it with newer firmware (as in the case of needing to build the template prior to being shipped your flashkits for rebanding). Oddly, they chose to make the default for that checkbox as unchecked.

So, the simple solution to your problem is to check that checkbox, and burn the codeplug in again, even if you have no trunking systems programmed into the radio, and that error should go away.

Yup, that solved the issue. I looked all over the place for that little box. Must have
missed it in my search through the different tabs and selections.

Thank you for the information.
