XTS4000 Question

Just curious, what is the XTS4000 serial number format? Specifically, what are the first three numbers and the next letter? Obviously, the rest would follow the standard M sequence. I've got a 123ABC... version in VHF on the way and wondered what the right serial number base would be on a factory-new unit.

The first three digits that you're talking about are known as an APC. For the XTS4000, in VHF or UHF R1, the APC is 654. The next three digits indicate factory of origin, year and month of manufacture, as outlined in the serial number decoder on the main site.

You are the 411 god. Thanks. That leaves the last question...which factory code(s) are possibles for the 4000? Goodness, I hope that's made in America (at least).

Well, I suppose in theory they could make it in any of their factories worldwide, but in practice, especially for certification (since the 4000 is primarily marketed to the feds) and distribution standpoints, final assembly (and hence factory code) would likely be right here in the US of A.
