I received notice from our Motorola service shop that the XTS3000 will no longer be supported by Motorla after June 2010.
This applies to all of our VHF XTS3000's (and apparently the UHF models as well).
Looks like our 4-year old, $4,000 radios may be paper weights if they break.

Re: XTS3000 support cancellation
The VHF/UHF XTS3000 products were cancelled 6/30/2005 and you're just finding out about this now? I'd take that up with your radio shop since this information is updated every quarter. I make it a point to scour the "notification of support cancellation" every time it is published.

resqguy911,
Just because the product is no longer produced does not mean it is no longer supported. I've been sending 10 or more a month to the depot for PM and updates for many years now.
Perhaps it is you who needs to get a clue.

Oh, I think he's pretty clued in.jhooten wrote:Perhaps it is you who needs to get a clue.
If the product production was cancelled in 2006, you can bet your bippy that support cancellation will follow in short order. I'm just trying to figure out how the OP got brand new XTS 3000's four years ago, since they were cancelled almost five years ago.
resqguy911 is correct about the notice of support cancellation that Motorola puts out every few months. If you maintain a fleet of top-tier, public safety radios, of any size (and really from any manufacturer), it behooves you to keep up on the level of manufacturer support for your radios.

"Notification Of Support Cancellation:
In an effort to keep you informed on the status of replacement parts and service support, we are providing you with a pre-notification of support cancellation on various products. Replacement Parts & Kits, Radio Support Center, Infrastructure Depot Operations and Test Equipment Repair Center services for the models listed are going to be outside of the published Motorola RPSD Replacement Parts Availability Goal.
This list is intended to provide you with advanced notification so you have sufficient time to communicate this to your customers and help plan their support strategy. This list should also be communicated to your customers where the customers have service contracts covering any of the listed models.
It is the goal of Motorola to normally have available replacement parts and depot services for cancelled products for Global & Public Safety two-way radios products in accordance with the schedule listed below. However, individual piece parts and select services may still be available.
