Astro Spectra Question

Post by Max »

Hi

I have 2 Astro Spectra's.
Radio-1
Model-D04UJF9PW4AN
Flash code-540008-000480-6
Firmware:10.72.00.00
DSP:N08.03.05

Radio-2
Model-D04UJF9PW5AN
Flash code-500008-000400-7
Firmware:11.70.00.00
DSP:N08.03.03

My question is,what package in the flash code of radio-1 stops it from being able to
program the trunking system to " on-ptt "
Radio-2 allows you to program the trunking system with " on-ptt " but radio 1 will only allow you to program the trunking system to " auto affiliate "

Thanks
Max

What radios do you own?: APX4K, XTL5K, NX5200, NX700HK

It's the firmware and the flash of the one with 9600 trunking in it.

So it's a combination of the Firmware:10.72.00.00 and the Q361/G361 package Digital APCO-25 IMBE Trunking (9600kb Control) ?

Correct. The Astro 9600 host (in this case, 10.72.00 for the Astro Spectra) and the 9600 trunking flash option go hand in hand, and by virtue of how its built and how the CPS interacts with it, it behaves essentially identically to an Astro25 radio when it comes to trunking. So, just like with an XTS5000 for example, the only affiliation type that is supported is automatic. Unlike the Astro25 CPS, however, in the Astro Spectra CPS, on-PTT is still in the dropdown (because it is a valid option for 3600 only Astro radios), but of course that field is read-only (eyeglasses).

Thanks for you reply.
So just that I am clear,it's the Q361/G361 package Digital APCO-25 IMBE Trunking (9600kb Control)
And not the Firmware:10.72.00.00 that causes this.

Technically, you're right, in that CPS is what's limiting you from choosing On-PTT affiliation. However, just removing that option from the radio in this case isn't the whole pie - really, you would need to have the radio flashed with the mainline 3600 host instead of the 9600 host to complete the process. There's some things that the 9600 host doesn't do that were stripped out of it in order to fit the host code in the 1m host ROM.
