iDEN RSS for a mobile radio

The model number is M12UCH6RR6AN with a remote mount handset. I'm trying to figure out how to program this thing. Currently active on the Telus Mike network, but we need to change the names in the phone list. Nobody has a clue including our dealer who just wants to sell us a new phone.

From the RSS spreadsheet on MOL, looks like there's only one CPS for the entire series of iDEN phones. Is that correct?

The antique-but-still-works-great contraption looks like it's based on an MCS M1 housing with the remote coming off the DB25 on the bottom. The handset's base has a DB-15 for accessories and the handset itself plugs in RJ-45. What do I need for my RIB?

To get into the menu hit * # 20 (phone list) *#21 (ID list) *#22 (Talkgroup)

You need Iden RSS (there is only one) and I would assume the new Super Agent RSS should still work with the M370. The programming cable goes into the bottom port. You will need to unplug the acc cable to use RSS with it, you will need a RIB also. Drop me a PM, or email if you have any more questions, it has been a few years but we used to maintain several fleets with the M370's. The total number was well over 1000 units that we covered, and they were fairly reliable.

No it will not. From what I have been told there was enough memory but Nextel did not want to pay to have the correct firmware updated.

We still have a few out there, but when they die, you can't get them to swap you out no one at sprint know what an IMEI is. The last one I was able to get swapped took a few weeks to talk to someone that knew what she was doing and we had no problem then. There is a newer mobile based on the i710, the M710 and it is SIM based and it will do cross fleet, but it's still only .6 watt output.

I didn't think they did. Nextel doesn't complain about them not having GPS? Or does that requirement not exist since it's considered radio w/telephone interconnect...

Yup, it's cool to have full bars, dial a number, press send, and watch the signal level die because the 800 MHz control channel has dumped me off onto a 900 MHz channel that my mobile BDA doesn't support. When I am doing a job somewhere on the fringe I'll put my SIM in an i60 because it will only do 800 MHz. I loose the address book but at least the phone will work great.

We'll see how the keypad programming goes, I think age has gotten the pads underneath the keys and some of 'em don't work, others require a finger-numbing hard press. That said, perhaps anyone have a handset laying around they'd like to sell?

No, VSELP only.
