I know this has been discussed to death...but I am trying to optimize my HT1250. Currently I use the VHF stubby that came with it (pointed in shape). I have read on this post that this antenna doesn't perform particularly well. How about Motorola's HAD9742A antenna? I prefer the stubby style antenna due to it's low profile.
Thanks for your comments.

Since piece of crap ht1250's dont have Wave guide antenna connectors, I'd say an MT1000 VHF Heliflex antenna (molded neoprene type) are you best option. I would have said the motorola VHF wideband, (VHF sidestabber) but it has a waveguide type connector

The antennas that shipped with the ht1250 for VHF are crap, both the regular and the stubby antenna. I replaced my antenna with the VHF antenna for a MT1000, and my reception improved very dramatically. For VHF, unless you're working in a very small area or are in close proximity to a repeater, you should probably forget the stubby antenna. Sure, it's more comfortable, but you're going to get lousy performance.

I have an HT1250 with a MT1000 antenna and i think it is much better that the one that it comes with!I also have a HT750 with a stubby GP300 style antenna for my wife and it is poor receive compared to the MT1000 antenna. But if you must have a stub this one is ok.
