MTX9250 on 907-919 ham split?

Post by N4KVE »

Hello. I have been using a MTX9250 here in S. FLA with great success on 900 ham freq's. Everything down here seems to be on 902-927 mhz split. However if I was to travel to an area where the 907-919 mhz split was used would the radio physically be capable of working there with 907-919 freq's programmed in the radio? Anyone tried this? That *should* work... I mean think about it. If you are using it on 902 OK and 927 OK, why wouldn't freqs in the middle of those two be OK?
The bandsplit is only a suggestion.

I'm asking because the factory operating splits on 900 are TX 896-901, so 902 TX is only 1 meg above that. The factory RX is 935-941, & 927 is 8 megs below that. Talkaround doesn't work on all radios on 927. However 907 is 6 more megs above factory TX, & 919 is 16 megs below factory RX. Further away from factory operating perameters. Remember on UHF, the radio operates in the whole band. 403-470 mhz, & 450-520 mhz with no blank areas. On 900 the radio isn't designed, or guaranteed to work between 902-935 as that isn't a FCC business freq. This is basically why the 902-927 split was utilized, as the commercial radios would work there. They didn't work on 907-919. But it seems the newer radios have wider coverage, so I was wondering if the 9250 would work on 907-919. GARY N4KVE
