GP280?

Post by Spiffy50 »

Hey gang. I've seen references to a Motorola GP280 (European WARIS series). I looked at the Moto specs and it looks as though this is a radio that does Privacy Plus trunking. Does anyone know if it is possible to convert a VHF WARIS (such as an HT1250) to a GP280 so I can do VHF trunking? I've also read you need a european radio. In which case, I have a "donor" GP680 VHF that I am willing to toy with. A friend has access to this European upgrade kit that's been talked about so I am not looking for software in any manner. I just want to know if such a thing is at all possible. Good Day!

You only have to program a new codeplug with the US Lab Upgradetool into the radio,if the firmware is not too old.If you have a radio with old firmware inside, flash the radio after the codeplug change, to prevent malfunctions.

Hi Andreas, do you know if the System Key ( make your own key listed here) workaround works on those modified radios? And can you use a North American radio for the upgrade?
