I did a quick search on the forums and didn't really come up with what I was looking for so I figured I would just ask. I see people are selling/buying these panther radios with the 123ABC1234 serial numbers. Are these radios (A) ok to buy and (B) if you buy one, can you turn around and sell one without catching crap from Motorola? I would like to buy/trade for a XTS2500 UHF cause I can't afford to buy one new.
Thanks,
Nick

Re: Panther Radios
Nick,
A quick answer to your question would be that you probably won't catch any hell from Motorola but they
won't fix it for you, either. Of course they might, but they also might not, so you take your
chances. Panter's overall reputation is decent, from what I've heard.

Re: Panther Radios
While he does sell some ABC1234 ser # radios, he also sells radios with legit ser #'s but no tags. My friend just got one of those, & it has been fine so far. Remember the ABC1234 radios either failed the QC check, or were sold as insurance scrap. For ham radio use they would be fine after an alignment, but you certainly wouldn't want to use one for public safety use. If you check that famous auction website, panter 8888 has some reasonably priced legit ser # no tag radios available. GARY N4KVE

Re: Panther Radios
Ok, now that I know that you won't catch any crap for these radios I will look into them more. I have a VHF, XTS5000 Model II and it has been an awesome radio. Limited as to the options in the flashcode, but I didnm't care much when I was looking. I would like to trade that for a UHF XTS2500. I'll post it in the for sale/trade forum and see what happens.
Thanks to everyone for the help!
