Hi all,
I noticed recently that the color of the silicone gasket surrounding the battery terminals on my XTS radios is different -- one is green, while the other one is blue. Is there any significance to the color difference? Does the color indicate a different band or revision? Just wondering if anyone has info on this.

Check the manufacture date of each radio from the 3-letter code in the serial number. You will probably find that the blue seal is on the newer radio.

Hmm. I got two XTS2500's last friday 9-24-10 (407CLTxxxx) in the mail, and the gasket color around the three battery connections is green.JPOPatents wrote:Check the manufacture date of each radio from the 3-letter code in the serial number. Thanks - that's good to know and my post was clearly incorrect. Obviously the green gaskets are the newer color since you have two radios made in September 2010. The blue seal is the next older color.wa6ylb wrote:Hmm. I've got an XTS2500i model II, S/N is 205TKC, indicating early 2009 mfg, and it has a green seal. Maybe the green seal is used only on the immersible (I) variations? I have a non-I 2500 VHF made with the same serial number (early 2009) and it has a BLUE seal. Both of these are factory radios.
