XTL question

Post by N4KVE »

I have seen some XTL front mount radios with their own head, & other XTL's with what looks like an Astro Spectra head. What is each model called, or is the one with the Astro Spectra head actually an Astro Spectra Plus. Thanks. GARY N4KVE

XTL5000's support both the W series head and the O series heads.

AFAIK there is no model number differentiation between radios supplied with O-series heads and W-series heads. They all show "W1" in the tag number. There may, however, be catalog model number differences.

An Astro Spectra PLUS is the same radio as an Astro Spectra in the same housing but with an advanced controller board. If you see a W-series head on an XTL housing, it's an XTL radio.
