XTL5000 O5 Motorcycle Radio

Post by JeffFireRadio »

Greetings. Has anyone seen an XTL5000 motorcycle radio since M recently moved it from the W-series setup to the O-series version? We're getting ready to order one and our state rep. says it will now ship in an O5 package. We're used to the W-series version, but I'm trying to plan ahead as it pertains to accessories and interfacing on the bike. Current M price pages and literature haven't caught up to the production change yet, thus the question here. Does it use the standard XTL remote mobile cabling or a new motorcycle-specific one? Does this version use the weatherproof GCAI mic or the weatherproof rear connector version? PTT package still available for the handlebars? Does the weatherproof speaker use the standard 2-pin molex plug or the motorcycle one? Headset interface plug still standard? Did the O5 head receive any additional weatherproofing/gasketing or is it the same as the mobile version? I'd appreciate any heads-up from parties who have actually got one. Thanks. - Jeff

I have just finished replacing 36 Spectras with XTL5000s. The Mic is the same, The speaker uses the Molex plug like most Motorola speakers and the interface is the same 6 pin amp plug.

I installed all but 1 in BMWs and we did not use the speaker as we used the internal ones.
