MSF5000 PL Encode Problem

Post by ve9xf »

Hey all!

I'm having a PL encoder problem with an MSF5000 C74CXB unit I have and looking to see if anyone can help. Essentially, I have tuned the MSF per the manual's alignment procedure, however when I encode a PL of 103.5 Hz, the PL is encoded properly, but it sounds as though another signalling type is also being encoded at the same time. I thought initially that I may have had the deviation too high, however I've set it at the right level and this problem still exists. When I disable the TX PL, nothing is sent and the carrier sounds normal.

Can the MSF have multiple signalling types encoded at the same time, causing such a problem to occur?

Thanks!

Don

Not that I've ever seen. It's one PL and one PL only. Can you provide an audio sample of this?
