Saber II component?

Post by Willret »

Hi!
I bought 5 Saber II (securenet/non sub.). Four out of five was working, and the last one hade some strange behavior. It would not start up 19/20 times. I have taken it apart and couldn’t find anything wrong besides that a little redish component solded between two legs of the “2 pole filter”. It was lose from one of the legs so I compared it to the 4 four others and solded it back on. (Funny thing is that it was lose on one of the working radios also.) The radio still wouldn’t start up every time, so when I got it started I’ll lounched RSS and reprogrammed it. Now it start up fine hand have no problems what I noticed. Can anyone explain this?

Then we have de current problem. One of the other radios that worked from start I can’t get to start now. It started up fine this weekend, I didn’t do anything else than start and read it with RSS. Let it rest to program it later this week and now when I try to start it, it won’t. The only thing I can figure happened is that I left it in the window and the sun grilled it all morning. So when I was taken it apart the same redish component had come lose. Tried to sold it back on, but when I reassembled the radio and tried to start it I heard something falling around in there. So I opened it again and the the same component, apparently made of glas, hade cracked.
So I need help figuring out what that component is, and its data. And also if someone could help me troubleshooting the radio? Is the broken component the issue here? (Seems strange when one of the working radios hade on of the legs loose.)

Many thanks!
Cheers!
