Hi,
I would like to add a headphone jack to a CDM mobile for a short term use. I understand the internal speaker will work, which is fine. I added a female inline mono jack on pin 1 & 16 but no go. No audio on the headphone...
Should this be possible?

Yes it should be there.
Check your pin numbering on the assy connector..

Darn...just won't work. Are these pins programmable, and possibly changed? Tried both headphones and mobile speaker and just no luck. I don't have access to programming myself, but I'd like to understand why I can't get it working.
Pins are for sure correct.

Is the internal speaker still working?
Pins 1 & 16 connect directly to the outputs of the audio amp IC, so if the the internal speaker works then the external one should too.
Make sure you do not ground either pin as this can burn out the amplifier.
Note that the picture here is the connector on the radio, if you have the Moto 16 pin accessory plug it will not have the outer 4 pins, also the even number side of the plug will have some of the pin numbers marked on it.
If you are hooking up a headset you will probably need to put a resistor in series with one lead to cut the volume down unless the headset has one built in, probably something like 500 to 1000 ohms.
