Hello, first post and everything--I couldn't find what I needed by searching the boards.
I have an analog Spectra Desktop Console w/the TRC Board. The spectra itself and the controlhead both plug into the board with what looks like SCSI cables. Here's my question: If I were to get an ASTRO Spectra and reuse all the current components (ie, reuse the interface board between the controlhead and the TRC board, reuse the DB25 interface plate from the analog Spectra, etc etc), would it work, fry the ASTRO radio, or just plain not work?
I don't really have too much experience with ASTRO radios aside from being an end user, so I'm not sure how much of a difference there is in hardware between the ASTRO and analog spectras (aside from the obvious fact the ASTRO's have things like the VOCON, etc).

Re: Converting a Spectra Console to a Consolette
I don't know this for sure, but I would guess that due to firmware differences between the Spectra and ASTRO Spectra series radios, this probably isn't going to work. I seriously doubt there would be any permanent damage to the radio or TRC board, seeing as how you can connect an A series control head to an ASTRO Spectra without damage, it just won't work.
Of course, don't take what I say as gospel, and use your best judgment.
