My XTS2500i's screen has started doing some weird things and it occasionally doesn't show anything on the screen.
I assume it's something to do with the LCD Flex cable. How can I get the radio apart to reseat the cable??

XTS2500i Flex Cable
Schrodinger's Radio: It is simultaneously too loud and too quiet, but you will never know which until someone transmits.
Re: XTS2500i Flex Cable
Recently a friend had his 2500i just decide not to power on. Was working fine, 2 days later after it sat in the car untouched it was powered on, and nata. All obvious causes researched. Nothing.
Just figured I'd add this to the thread. Maybe related, maybe not.
Its sitting waiting for troubleshooting.
Anyone heard of this?

If you're feeling gutsy, you can get a flat, thin butter knife and slip it between the case and chassis at the bottom of the radio. Be very careful as you can crack the thin plastic if you don't apply even pressure. >> You'll also need to remove the volume and channel knobs before opening the case.<< Both the display and speaker flexes are clipped in, so don't go pulling, prying or pushing on them. There's a little hinged retainer clip that needs to be flipped upwards to remove the flex.
If you'd rather go the OEM route, pick up a case tool off ebay: http://cgi.ebay.com/Motorola-XTS2500-Ch ... 818wt_1185
Good luck.

and not only are those tools the ONLY CORRECT way to open an XTS housing without marring up the sealing area, but the other end has a great tool for removing knobs without boogering them up too.
