Astro Saber Receiver Tuning

Post by escomm »

Basic service manual says generate an unmodulated signal at 4.0uV at +150KHz from the RX frequency in tuner. Basic service manual covers RSS, not CPS tuner.

So do I do the same for the CPS tuner? When I generated at 150KHz away the RSSI was consistently peaking at 20-23. When I generated on frequency it would peak at about 65.

Either way the radio is still pretty deaf. About .8uV to open and stays open down to about .5uV. Not sure if I have a deaf receiver or what

Astro Saber uses the same RF board as the Jedi, and aligns much the same way.
To get the proper alignment on the RX frontend you need to peak the softpot with the slightly off channel signal. reduce the sig gen to get it into the noise peaking the RSSI on the test meter.

Also check the squelch settings they get messed up easily.
