EX500/600 blue gasket containment ?

Post by RadioSouth »

Anybody know if the EX500/600 had the containment mod like the Ht750/1250/1550 with the blue gasket ?

If you are talking abut the gasket around the 3 battery contacts, I believe they are the same part as the Ht-1250 series.

Thanks for the reply. What I'm trying to find out is if the EX500/600 radios with the orange gaskets are in need of contact upgrade as did the similar HT750/1250/1550 (containment mod). A blue gasket was part of the upgrade so you could visually tell if the mod was done. I noticed early EX500/600 radios had an orange gasket but the more recent have a blue gasket so I'm wondering if it's about that same mod.

Yes, same thing. The blue gasket has little 'fingers' which slide under the open end of the battery contacts, giving them much more spring & allowing them to keep better contact with the battery.

Not sure on cost (not much though) and difficulty level isn't high, but you do need a size 6 Torx to remove the screws as the main board needs to be detached from the rear chassis.
