MOTOROLA AND WINDOWS 7

Post by JD »

I have 2 new laptops, Lenova and a Compaq. Neither one will work with the latest versions of Motorola software for the CDM and Cm\CP series. the programms will start and then get a message stating "No Componetn Found", then the programm closes. I have contacted Motorola and 1 person saif they will work with Windows 7 and 1 said they are not compatable. The Compaq has 32 bit windows , the lenova 64 bit. Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks.

The 64 bit definitely won't work. Supposedly if you are using the latest (R06.12.02), Pro Series will work on the 32-bit, but I wouldn't count on it.

Personally I just keep a laptop (with a real serial port) around with XP for programming radios...
The bandsplit is only a suggestion.

Your computer needs to see a serial port in order for the CPS to boot. Plug in a usb to serial adapter and see if it starts then. I'm assuming neither computer has a real serial port

Neither has a serial port, using a USB adapter cable. Cm and CDM software both have same error message on the 32 bit Compaq. Tried with USB pugged in, still same message.

This issue has been discussed pretty thoroughly here and over on radioreference.com - almost everybody agrees that the best solution for now is to install the CPS on a laptop or desktop that has a real DB9 or DP25 serial port and is running Windows XP.

I ran into the same issues several months back and went through the same pains that you are having now. As soon as I moved everything over to an XP machine, all the problems disappeared.

Uninstall the programs, then reinstall running the entire setup.exe in XP compatibility mode. This way every file (exe, dll, ocx, etc) in the program believes it's running on XP right from the get go. Should work for the 32 bit computer, at least it always has for me.
