The volume pot on my HT750/GP340 series is intermittent. The radio switches on OK but as I "wobble" the volume pot, the audio level varies from what you would expect to a low level.
Any views on the likely cause such as:
- where pot is soldered to PCB needs reflowing?
- dirty volume track - is there an access point to use switch clearner?
Hopefully I will not need to replace the pot.
Thanks

We replace the pot on a regular basis. As long as you stay clear of the very tiny surface mount components around the high and low side you are golden.

It it likely just a dry joint where the pot is soldered to PCB or do I need to replace the pot?

I replace a lot of Motorola volume controls. I also see a very few that just need resoldering. Look at it good or just solder and try it again.

Thanks.
Can you remove the volume pot with a standard soldering iron/solder remover - or do you need special "heat" tools?

You can do it with standard equipment. Just be cautious as always. It's a through-hole device.g8tzl2004 wrote:Thanks.
