CP200 PTT "sticks" with aftermarket batteries
Hey folks
Really scratching my head over this one
I maintain a fleet of CP200's, ordered a batch of aftermarket batteries from Arrowmax.com, batteries look good and hold charge and everything, but when i'm using the Arrowmax batteries and hit the PTT, it stays on when released, but doesn't do it with my OEM batteries.... Ive tried 10 different radios and its all the same, anyone have any idea what could possibly cause such an issue?

.
Reminds my of a saying:
"The bitter taste of poor quality remains much longer than the sweet taste of a low price."
Send them back and get OEM batteries. Far lower cost of ownership in the long run.

Re: CP200 PTT "sticks" with aftermarket batteries
Probably high internal resistance that will results in the batteries inability to produce sufficient current to key the radio while maintaining battery voltage over a required threshold.

garbage in

sorry, couldn't resist. shoot me a pm with chemistry requirements and i'll quote you OEM batteries at a price that's probably better than anyone online
Re: CP200 PTT "sticks" with aftermarket batteries
Do you have the correct antenna on your radio(s)?
An incorrect antenna would cause RF to get into the radio keeping it keyed and in your case it may be the difference in the batteries.

The antennas are the standard Black color code marked Motorola helical antenna, frequency pair is 152/158
Anyone have any ideas on a fix or ?

Re: CP200 PTT "sticks" with aftermarket batteries
The best fix is the one that's already been suggested...send 'em back and buy OEM batteries.
Re: CP200 PTT "sticks" with aftermarket batteries
I know but unfortunately that doesnt help in the short term with the pile of radios that are used 24/7

Re: CP200 PTT "sticks" with aftermarket batteries
Well you won't get support from Motorola since you are using unauthorized equipment. Might could void your radio warranty, too. Call your battery manufacturer and ask them for support.
