IMPRESS Batts in NTN177C Bank Charger?

Post by Squad5 »

Any negative results in putting Impress XTS5000 batteries in the NTN177C Bank charger? I know I should Use an IMPRESS charger but was just wondering if I could use this one as well?

The charger will charge the battery as a normal non-IMPRES battery. As long as the battery goes into an IMPRES charger every once in a while (once a week or so), all is good. If it doesn't go into an IMPRES charger periodically, you will lose the benefits such as routine reconditioning. Also, the battery gauge on the radio will eventually stop working as it needs periodic recalibration that is a result of the IMPRES reconditioning function.

Just one follow-up up note, The NTN1177 Multi charger is for use with Ni-Cd & NiMH batteries only. It is not compatible with Lithium Ion batteries.
