M1225 antenna connector removal

Any tips on removing the antenna connector from an M1225 main board? I tried to desolder one last night and when I applied the heat it just laughed at me. The thing is just one big heat sink.

Clearly, I'm going to need a much hotter iron, but I'm concerned that applying that much heat is going to damage the nearby components and coils, or at the very least melt the inside of the connector and create a hell of a mess.

There's got to be a trick to it ... I'd rather hear the proper way to approach it than just flail around until I damage something.

My dirty way of doing it: A big blob of solder that touches all the solder joints, some time with the iron, and a pair of needle nose pliers to pull it out.

Make sure to use low heat enough to melt the solder but not delaminate the circuit board.

Easier said than done on the M1225 board. I had one one time that had an intermittent in the programming line coming off the mic jack and on the third round of desoldering the on-volume pot and mic jack that board was toast (turned out it was down in the board.. a jumper from the mic jack to the IC eventually solved that.)
