Motorola XTS5000 Stutter Noise
For the last few weeks, my XTS5000 has been making stuttering or skipping type sounds when it should be just a normal tone. This occurs when turning on or off the scan, and when going through the menu options. It normally goes away when I power the radio off for a few seconds, and then turn it back on. It doesn't seem to affect any other aspect of the radio, but I know it is not normal. I would like to get the issue resolved so it doesn't become more serious. I figured I would turn here before dropping a ton of cash just to have it checked. Thanks in advance for your help!

Is it, by chance an early XTS 5000 with the RAM22 processor? You can check this by putting it in service mode (power up, press button above PTT 5 times, observe results).fallspolice wrote:For the last few weeks, my XTS5000 has been making stuttering or skipping type sounds when it should be just a normal tone. You should probably have a look at the following thread: http://batboard.batlabs.com/viewtopic.php?f=4&t=98895

Thats exactly what it was! RAM22 processor showed up in service mode.
So, if I leave the radio the way it is will it do any damage? I can deal with the stutter noise as long as I'm not doing further damage to the radio.
Thanks for the help!!!

No, I don't believe it will do any damage whatsoever. It's just an annoying glitch of certain radios that have RAM22 processors in them. The worst part is that Motorola refuses to acknowledge there is a problem, so you can't get anything done about it.
