Desktrac + Tone Remote

Post by Pump3 »

Hey guys
Looking for some help trying to get a VHF Desktrac to work with a CPI TR-10 remote
The repeater has the frn-5351b board, ill be the first to admit I dont know much at all about tone/DC remotes, ect this is just something i'm playing around with just to learn....not for anything critical

I can hook the TR-10 to the RG-45 style connector on the 5351B board, and get audio on the TR-10 (not very loud however) and I can talk on the Desktracs local mic and hear myself on the TR-10, but thats all, I can't key the Desktrac with the TR-10

Any suggestions?

Have you read this page on Desktracs at Repeater-Builder?

Yup, but not a lot of info on hooking up tone remotes there, have to be doing something simple, wrong lol

Anyone know the jumpers settings for the B Version board for 2-Wire operation?

Jumper settings for both the A and B version boards has been scanned and put into a PDF file. A link has been added to the DeskTrac article on repeater-builder, in the area where the line control jack is described.

The jumpers themselves are nearly impossible to identify on the X-ray views, so they were not provided. Hopefully they're easier to find on a real station.

They are clearly identified on the circuit board, so locating them shouldn't be an issue. Key points here are to have the correct pinout from the tone remote to the RJ45 on the DeskTrac, then verify that jumpers are set correctly (2-wire vs. 4-wire depending on the required configuration), and then that the tone tables are programmed correctly in the RSS.

I wish there was a way to notify everybody about this, but apparently the PM e-mail notification system is not working, or if it IS working, it's not working reliably or for everyone. I've told Alex about this but he hasn't found where the problem is yet. Last week I got five PMs; I received noficiation of just one, and that was four hours after I had already read it.

So if you've sent PMs to people and they haven't been read or acknowledged, this could be why. Unless they log in and notice that there's something waiting for them, PMs will just sit around and go unread.

Maybe a moderator can post something about this in the Site News category.

I get a lot of PMs and consistently the email arrives in my inbox within 10 minutes of the PM being sent to me. I'll get with Alex but I suspect there's nothing he can do on his end. Perhaps the tubes to your inbox from the server are clogged

Nothing I can do about clogged tubes but I get everything else. I got two more PMs overnight and no notification at all. I don't have "topic reply" notification enabled though, but PM notification should still come in. I used to get them in 10 minutes but the last one (besides one this week) was back in June.

Happy Thanksgiving to all those who celebrate it.

Sounds like they need to reverse the neutron flow. Or maybe correlate the integrator wave. Could be. Never know.

It needs more cow bell! Shoulda been obvious right from the beginning. Doh!
