MTS2000 on rebanded system - squelch

Post by pfish »

Hi,

I've got six MTS2000 radios on a SmartNet system that has recently been rebanded. We notice often times when we transmit the other radios will give a few bursts of squelch, almost like a very week signal coming in and out. The transmission is not heard on the TRS, and there's no repeater hang on the radio that's transmitting. I don't think it's a signal issue, I've replicated the problem within a few hundred feet from the tower.

I was originally thinking it could be an alignment issue but all 5 radios will do this when the other radio transmits. This only happens about 15% of the time. I ran a Uniden scanner in CloseCall mode and noticed that when this happened, the input frequency was far off from the others. Here's what I logged during a series of keyups:

806.9875 ok
807.4875 ok
806.4875 ok
808.2375 ok
807.4875 ok
808.2375 ok
817.0625 FAIL

Model: H01UCD6PW1BN
Firmware: Mixture of 6.11 and 5.62
FLASHCODE: 000004-000000-6

Does this sound like a flash issue?

What radios do you own?: XTS2500, XTS5000, and MTS2000

firmware. If you're not running 8.71 or later (8.73) your radios cannot handle the rebanded tables. This accounts for the squelching problem you describe.

Update firmware and problem will go away.
