Intermittent LCD on XPR4550

Post by Pump3 »

I have a XPR4550 here that's been mounted in a desktop power supply for months, and a few months back the LCD and backlight quit working on the radio, took it apart, reseated everything, put it back together, and it worked, never thought too much more of it, but it did it again, and I reseated the connectors and still nothing, radio works normally else wise

Suggestions?

Just had the CH off, wiggled the flex and it came in and out intermittently but all the text was backwards like i was looking at it in a mirror, turned it off and back on and its back to normal operation....

Odd

Upgrade the firmware.

Check the LCD board connections.

Sub a new flex if you have one.

Replace the control head with a known good spare.

Pretty sure you can order a complete control head if that is the problem, probably cheaper than flat rate, unless its under warranty.

IF its under warranty, ship it.

Firmware is up to date
Seems to be the flex/connector on the CH side
Unfortunately no spare CH's or flex cables, and no longer under warranty

Well, you can buy a flex for cheap, and reflow the connector.

I would buy a flex first, rather than a $200 control head. Reflowing the connector is always an option. If you have the right tools and can see real well, up close.
