XTL5000 "TX INH" Displayed on TX ?

Post by jry »

OK I'm stumped ...radio displays "TX INH" on transmit either conventional or trunked. Still transmits but has that message on the display.

Have not fully reprogrammed yet but cannot find any reference to that display message in the manuals or CPS help screens ...at least it did not jump out at me.

Not the head or cabling ..switched heads and switched to dashmount configuration.

Think it even came up during the alignment /service mode transmit but not sure if that's accurate ...may have mis-remembered that one.

Looked through the BSM , DSM as well as operators manuals .

Radio has the W5 spectra heads and was a front rear configuration ...reprogrammed for single head, tried changing the ignition sense functions as well. Have not tried it in dual head mode which is how it started out.

Have you checked in the CPS that maybe someone has possibly programmed the radio alias as "TX INH" under the Radio Wide configuration?

it has a button or switch programmed for transmit inhibit, and it is apparently enabled or strapped to those channels/talkgroups.

The smell, you know that gasoline smell, the whole hill. Smelled like... victory. Someday this war's gonna end...

thanks for the responses but its not in the codeplug from what I can tell.

Cloned a codeplug from a working radio and even switched it back to dual head config.

Checked the firmware version and it's 12.00.11 ...think that had the fixes from the original 12.00.00 release that was defective.

May try and update the firmware but would like to understand where that message is coming from ...either that or its back to the depot.

Think I have seen this once before but not sure how it got resolved.

Even if you cloned a code plug into the radio, not all the features will go over, i.e., a button or a switch is enabled, or, the talkgroup or channel is strapped to tx inhibit.

Does this in both Conventional and Trunked so it should be something in the Radio WIde Fields. Thought I had something in the display & menu with the PTT-ID but during that off did not help.

Feels like something off in the firmware codeplug combination.
