Motorcycle Spectra parts compatibility

If I were to obtain a motorcycle spectra head and cable, would it plug and play with a remote mount mid power drawer, or is the front panel/interconnect board pinout different? Looking at putting a motorcycle head setup in a boat with a D43 drawer I already have.

Just remember, the mike jack on the motorcycle head is blocked off, as the mike plugs into the interconnect cable. Because of this, the plug on the mike is different. GARY N4KVE

If you're outside of basic fit and connection issues, it should all just work.

The example MOFLAGS on Batlabs are pretty whored out, and will be a likely match to what you have.

If you run into trouble, post out. I assume you're on a regular Spectra and not on an Astro....

Hold on a sec.. does the motorcycle remote cable not require its own front panel interconnect? I seem to recall reading a post here saying that plugging a normal Spectra remote head and cable into a motorcycle front panel would let smoke out.

In any event, I can confirm that the complete kit of front panel/cable/mic (and control head back plastic) can be moved around and used on any normal Spectra or Astro Spectra, with the obvious caveat of keyloading not working through the keyload jack on Astro radios. Another thing to watch out for is that the mic jack on the head itself is dead when used with the motorcycle cable, so you have to use the motorcycle mic connected through the DB9 connector. Additionally the motorcycle front panel only has one DB25 so your ignition sense, speaker audio, and programming go to the rear DB15 (this is how an actual motorcycle radio is set up btw.)
