MSF 5000 Programing

Post by n7jys »

Having problems getting my MSF 5000 to operate Full Duplex with 4wire interface.
Running ver 3.xx SSCB and 4.xx TTRC. I have interfaced a 7330 S-comm controller Via the DB25 Pin cabinet connector the plugs into the TTRC and 4wire audio boards. Everything works great except when keying it up it cycles as if in half duplex mode.

In the sataion options menu it is set to Full Duplex. On the TTRC board using RDSTAT pin (8) for COS line and EXT PTT pin (12) for push to talk. This worked fine on another MSF 5000 but running ver 4.xx SSCB and 5.xx TTRC.

What have I missed? Any help?

PTT priority list set up properly maybe?
Another possible issue, is the station programmed to be a repeater or base station?
Why not use the MRTI connector?
External PTT is programmable, Advanced Tab>Page 8, External PTT should be MUXA2B1 ?

Just some forks in the road for you,

Audio using the MRTI board connector sucks! Tryed it already. The PTT priority is set for wire and local. This is not the problem.
I am using RDSTAT signal from the TTRC board for a COS signal which is already wired to a DB25 pannel connector on the back of the repeater cabinet.
This was already mention in several sites as the recomended COS signal. I am also using the external PTT signal comming from the TTRC board for Push to talk on my controller. This also controlles the audio gating on the 4 wire audio board.

The problem is when a PTT signal comming form my 7730 controller key the ext. PTT on the TTRC board, the RDSTAT signal (COS) disapears, indicating it is operating in half duplex mode. The programing is identical to a nother MSF 5000 using the same controler and interface that works Great. The only difference is it is running newer firmware.

I think you've answered your own question. Get newer firmware into the station.

I know there was an issue with older firmware dealing with the active level on the two external I/O signals on the DB25 jack. Even though the sofware allowed for active high or active low, the station just gave it to you one way.

Bob I defiantly agree with you as I was just reading about this. Waiting on my new eprom burner to get here. Then I should be able to burn new chip. Thanks!
