R100 rib to radio cable.
There is a rumor such a thing exist. Do any of you have the diagram for it?
Re: R100 rib to radio cable.
Doesn't exist.
You don't use a RIB when programming the R100.

There is a BIG ERROR in that parts list. R1 and R2 should be 4.7 k. Why? To match the RS232 specification.
Re: R100 rib to radio cable.
Repeater builder said there was but I knew the truth would be found here.
Re: R100 rib to radio cable.
What article on repeater-builder says there is a R100 RIB-to-radio cable? I couldn't find it.

"Programming Cable:
You can still buy after-market programming cables for these stations. Most are so-called RIB-less designs, where the level shifting is done within the cable itself. You plug it into your computer directly. Some are terminated with DB25, others with DB9, and an adapter between the two may or may not be provided. I've been told that a RIB-based cable does exist, but I've not found it yet. Here's one schematic of a RIB-less cable:"

Re: R100 rib to radio cable.
Seems to me that the article just mentions that one existed but it hasn't been found. That doesn't mean it ever existed, but rumors are hard to squash. The fact that no one who responded on BatLabs knows of one doesn't mean it doesn't exist either.
If one existed, chances are high the schematic would have been provided, but so far the only programming cables that seem to be documented don't use a RIB.

That article was written by Bob M. some time ago.
The R100 came out before the RIB did and was made in Germany. I doubt the German designers even knew the RIB existed at that time and made a mistake in the programming cable design.
And the interface and levels on the R100 is RS232. Where the RIB is translating to TTL Logic.

Re: R100 rib to radio cable.
Well, that explains why the one experience I had with reading a R100 ended in continual failure. Will wrote:xmo wrote:Doesn't exist.

West Germany, to give you an idea of just how old they are. And you just thought the X9000 RSS was picky about processor clock speed..The R100 came out before the RIB did and was made in Germany.

Taunusstein factory ca.1986-1990.Here,better known as MC-Compact.
It´s mainly made from MC-Micro parts.
