MSF 5000 narrow

Post by radioguruphil »

The Motorola web site says some MSF 5000 are narrow 12.5. How can you tell. I have a good CXB station. I cannot find anything in the software to indicate this choice. Thanks in advance, Phil

The 896 MHz stations were narrow-band (2.5 kHz deviation). All other bands were wide (5.0 kHz). This is strictly a function of the hardware: receiver Uniboard and station control module. There's nothing in the software to set this.

Com-Spec offers narrow-band crystal filters for the IF, and the deviation can be lowered to 2.5 kHz, but the stations still aren't type-accepted for such use, which makes me wonder what good the mod really is.

Thanks I knew about the kits. I guess you would just have to sneak it in and cross your fingers. I think I will give it a try any way.
