Moto Programming with 667MHz Celeron?

Post by bluegrass »

I found an old pc in my basement and was wondering if it would be usable for programming moto gear. It's a circa 2000 Compaq Presario 5000 with an Intel Celeron 667Mhz CPU, 64MB of RAM and it did have Windows 98SE before I formatted the hard drive way back when.

It does have an RS-232 port and I know some moto RSS require pure DOS and that some newer computers are too fast for the software but that's as far as my knowledge goes.

Depends on which radios your trying to program.

Well at the moment I have a GP300 but would like to get a Saber and a GM300 or something similar. I'm also interested in an older XTS portable.

I believe you will get away with the GP300 and the GM300 on your computer. It might be too fast for the Saber.

Does your computer have the option in the BIOS to slow it down? If so, then that would be the way to go.

I don't think it has that option but I'll look.
