Linking MSF5000

Post by kc2tgd »

I have two MSF 5000 CXB repeaters, one on UHF and the other on VHF. I would like to have them linked.

My idea was to set them up for SpectraTAC operation, feed the receive lines into SQM cards on the voter, than somehow feed the voter's output into the TX lines to each MSF.

Wondering if there is any better or simpler way to accomplish the link and for "splitting" of the voted signal to be transmitted

Thanks and 73, KC2TGD

If I recall correctly, if they both have TTRC modules in them, there is a way to configure them to key each other via wireline. I've never done this and am not certain of how it's done, but perhaps someone can chime in and explain it. I could be wrong, though. It's also possible to wire COR & PTT between them, as well as TX/RX audio and go that route (E&M keying), that I know for a fact can be done.

They do both have TTRC's installed. It would be nice to have this all done over Wireline, just to minimize the stuff between them.

I guess both receivers would have to be set up to provide a channel 1 key tone whenever the receiver opens up.
