Hello I have a question about using a CDM1250 to repeat the tones and voice from our dispatch for a localized paging. We live on the western side of the county and our minitor 5 pager work fairly well but inside some buildings and low areas they don't. I am wondering if the voice storage on our 1250 would be able to record the page after the dispatch drops the tones and replay them(replay the paging tones and voice from the dispatch). This would be a big help since the local radio would be at a full 45 watts and should be able to get inside the buildings and lower areas.
Thanks for the help.

Yes, your correct it will and can store it's incoming audio. The tones and voice.Basicall anything the receiver hears. It would need to be carrier squelch to record the tones though.
BUT ........There is no way I know of to automatically activate the transmitter once it has recorded something. It basically would be a stand alone radio in a rooftop closet I'm guessing . So it receives the tones and voice ......BUTTTT......It has no way to AUTOMATICALLY start transmitting once it stores or receives these messages.
Sorry ......Gonna have to spend some dough on a BDA and a distributed antenna system for these dead buildings/spots.
MIGHT could try and increasing the coverage on the TX side of the system. Higher gain antenna, more transmit power. Thats much cheaper than a BDA and DAS !!!

Find yourself a Zetron Model 19 Simplexor. It will do exactly what you want. We used one for years on a GM300 and now have it running on a CDM1250.ICEMANTIM wrote:Hello Thanks thats what i thought. I could not find a way to retransmit it. Thanks for the help.
Ours is set up with different tones to activate it, but it would work just fine on our primary tones, too. The only complication is that you've got to have a tone encoder for your tones, too. On ours, it is just a small circuit board inside the small box that also contains the interconnect stuff to interface the radio with the Simplexor. There is a possible way around this if your agency is routinely dispatched with more than one tone pair.
If you find one, send me a PM and I'll send you all the documentation that I've got here. And we can talk more about needing or not needing a tone encoder.

Model 19's are no longer in production. You can look for a used one. There are still some out in service for this purpose and work well.
You can use a number of "simplex repeaters" that are available, the only challenge would be to modify it to operate only after the tones
are sent. This could be kludged with an outboard decoder.
You may also want to run this idea across the powers that be. In my area, county comm has stated these items are verboten.

Midian Electronics SVR-1-MPM-1 is made for the Motorola Commercial and Professional Series. $184 each.Bigred wrote:You can use a number of "simplex repeaters" that are available, the only challenge would be to modify it to operate only after the tones are sent. Good point on the "local rules" note. I suspect some urban/suburban areas with high volumes on their alerting channels might not take kindly to automatic retransmission systems.
Re: CDM1250 Voice Storage Board to repeat a page
Hello Thanks for the info. I will be looking into the Midian units. The local dispatch is ok with them doing it. We have so much trouble they double page the squads anyway and if we could get this going it would cut down them having to do it.
Thanks for the help.

We use the Connect Systems FLEX Simplex repeater unit. It has specific firmware for this. It uses an external decoder to "validate" the page. It stores the voice message, will regenerate the 2-tone page tones and rebroadcast the voice message.
