MTR2000 AUDIO ISSUE

Post by dbfp3 »

I have a MTR2000 at our dispatch center that has distorted/muffled audio when transmitting. It is tied into the console through a wireline and uses a single microphone for all the other radios. At first I thought it could be a microphone issue, but the other radios are clear. I checked all the settings in the programming and didn't see anything that looked incorrect. Does anyone have any recommendations on a setting or other options to try to clear this up.
Thank you for any suggestions you may have to help troubleshoot this issue.

You need to check the line level out to the station. Possibly too high / too loud. -20 to -10db is the normal level at the station input. That may be as high as 0db out of the console depending on how it gets to the station.

You should check the station alignment as well. The input may be set too low (ie: expecting a much lower level input than is arriving).
