Custom PL tones

This forum is for discussions regarding all aspects of Motorola radio programming, including hardware, computers, installation and use of RSS/CPS, firmware upgrades, and troubleshooting. There are subforums for discussions of codeplugs, and also for software/firmware release notes and issues.

Custom PL tones

Post by e.m.c.2 »

Hi to all,I'm new on this forum and friends I spoke very well,

so I decided to register and ask if anyone is able to solve this problem:

-I need to program on a Radio frequency GP3xx PL 34 hz ....
I know that is not possible but I had chance to see programmed radio with these frequencies,
and use them where I work from a long time ....

Is there any way to "bypass" the control of "invalid field" about CPS?

Thanks in advance
Claudio

Not to side track the thread, but who in their right mind would even attempt to use such a low tone? It would take forever to decode if you could even get it to pass through most normal radios.

You will never get it to work on a narrow banded radio.

Programming with these frequencies PL works for several years and even on different channels and a radio repeater, there will be at least 40-50 portable radios programmed with this system.

I was able to read (bypassing the password ...) that I've provided and I could see this strange setting, I wanted to know how they got it.
A friend of mine told me about a version of CPS program which allowed the insertion but did not allow saving these settings"strange" ....

anyone would be able to modify the program "forcing" this thing?

Can you be more specific about the model radio you are using?

Pro Series CPS will allow entry of any PL tone above 67Hz and the radios will generally synthesize those tones without issue. You could try modifying the CPS to permit entry of tones below 67Hz, however whether the radio will synthesize and pass them through its filters is unknown.

I personally tried with my test-set R & S CMS52 and frequencies below 67 Hz are sintetized,
now the problem is to modify the program to accept this setting, or you could simply bypass the control of the invalid fields ...
How can 'do?

Hello again,
I wanted to ask a question,
is there a program that can edit the file you saved from a motorola radio?

I tried it with a hex editor, but the file each time it seems to be different ...

Someone has already tried this thing?

Tnx in advance

The saved codeplug files are encrypted. You would need a third-party program which can read and save the codeplug data in it's 'raw' format, allowing for hex editing. These programs are often referred to as 'LAB' or 'Depot' software.

Be aware although these programs exist out in the wild somewhere, we do not provide them here, nor allow posts asking or offering them, just like the regular Motorola RSS/CPS.

If it's a matter of hex editing the actual Motorola software to do something which Motorola doesn't provide or support, we allow that discussion and details to be posted in the spirit of experimentation.
No trees were harmed in the posting of this message...however an extraordinarily large number of electrons were horribly inconvenienced.
