The collar switch under the rotary dial on my XTS3000 has failed. The radio is stuck on scan (secure) and the collar can be rotated to clear, but it is mushy in that direction and wants to push back.
I tried to remove the channel knob to fiddle with it, but it won't come off. Do I just pull harder, or is there a trick? I will just assign the A/B/C switch to scan for now, but I would like to repair the collar. Is this a common XTS3000 problem?
Thanks!
Paul

Re: XTS3000 "collar" broken
The knob is held on to the switch with two plastic fingers that "clip" onto the switch itself.
The collar itself, known as the "concentric switch" is a simple to replace plastic part that you should be able to order from Motorola.

Re: XTS3000 "collar" broken
Realize that this thread is over a year old but this is the closest to my problem.
I too have a XTS 3000 with a broken collar that will require the removal of the channel knob. Strange that the internet has a wealth of info for removing the volume knob, but nothing for the channel knob. I am hoping that someone here can explain exactly how the channel knob can be removed.
Than you
