Securenet Not Working

Post by PRNJ »

All just got done working on a set a System Sabers (|||) and I'm having this problem with them, I created a new 16-Digit key in the T3011DX and connected the System Sabers to it...Hit the PTT button on the loader and the radio beeps and accepts the key (I think the message was KEY PASSED).

I turn the Securenet switch to the secure position but nothing happens, I'm listening to a scanner to determine if it was TX'ing with DES or still in the clear. When I turn the Securenet switch nothing changes on the display, The circle is present but no slash thru it.

What am I doing wrong? I'm curious, These radios were sold as having DES (straight) boards in them.

Thanks!

If you're getting the beep and key passed your KVL successfully loaded a key to the module. It's been a while but in programming I recall there were options in the codeplug relating to the securenet options, perhaps one of the options was to enable/disable securenet on each channel ?

Agreed. Your portable isn't programmed to have the TMSS switch (secure switch) allow selectable secure/clear operation.

Reprogram the portable.

Sounds good!

I have a x386 (25MHz) laptop coming in and I have my original Motorola Systems Saber & regular Saber diskettes in the closet collecting dust, Time to get programming setup again :)

The person who programmed them forgot the enable it, no biggie as I have a bit of motivation to use those old floppy's finally!

I have not used RSS in a LONG TIME. Hopefully I can remember how everything works and if not I'll make sure I ask here before I take a random guess :o

Thanks for the info! This board is very helpful!!!

OK, The laptop should be here in the AM and I should be back in business :-) Of course, I need coffee (lot's of coffee) before booting that Windows 3.0 machine in DOS and loading up those floppy's lol

Is it possible to turn the RF power down on the Sabers? Example, 1 WATT?

IIRC both the Sabers & System Sabers could be programmed by channel for low, medium or high power.
