Serial/USB adapter with XTS & Astro Saber 3

Just wanted to check and see if anyone knows if there are any issues using a serial to USB adapter on a programming cable for an XTS & Astro Saber 3..... I have heard both ways. I will be using the cable on a computer with Windows 7 and it doesn't have any serial ports. I may be using 2 different software versions as well (if that makes any difference). I would appreciate any input on this.--Thanks!

I use this cable and have absolutely no problems. It reads and writes every time without error.

I also use RIB-less programming cables (separate ones for XTS3000 and XTS5000) that I got from Flea-bay for cheap. No issues with them.

I have an aftermarket cable and RIB box from Flea-bay and that's what I was wanting to use the USB/Serial adaptor on. I have one like you listed from Radio Shack and that's what I was going to use. Sounds like it should work OK..........Thanks for the reply!
