(HAM USE) MTS2000 Top Display PL Tone issues

Post by djshadowxm81 »

Hi there, I just got a MTS2000, I had ht1000 before and loved it. Now i have this one all programed correctly to the best of my knowledge, however i cannot get it to work on a ham repeater. Pl tones are in tx correctly, and transmit freq is correct aswell. I can use it on simplex, but I cannot figure out why the hell it won't trigger the machines. Any advice would be welcomed!

Have you checked power output via standard bench checks with either a service monitor
or reliable quality rf power meter such as a Bird or Telewave?

Your programming is done with either CPS or RSS programming software so i assume
you have checked all the obvious parameters, is that correct?

Does it work on other repeaters? Or is there just 1 repeater in your town to try? GARY

Haven't checked the power output, i don't have that kind of equipment here. I'm just mind boggled as whats going on here. All the repeaters that require a pl transmit are not working.

Maybe set on narrow, which will reduce the PL deviation enough that some Ham repeaters will not decode.

Also check the transmitter compensation, the low frequency modulation calibration. If not set correctly, the PL tone on transmit will be distorted and not able to be decoded by the repeater. Very common problem.
