IMPRES Bank Charger 15 pin connector
I recently purchased a used Motorola IMPRES charger WPLN4121BR version 3.3 for use with my JEDI radios. This charger does not have any built in dispays, but does have a 15 pin connector on the back which looks just like a PC VGA connector. I tried hooking up a monitor to the connection, but the monitor said there was no signal. Does anyone know what this connector is for, and if it is for a display, what format the signal is in?
Also, I have had a very hard time finding documentation for this charger, probably because it has been replaced with another model or was not for sale in the US. Does anyone know where I can find the manual for this unit?Th

The connector in question currently has no published use, as far as I've heard (or not as the case may be). However, you'll see that it's wired in parallel to the connectors used for the display modules, so I would assume at some point Motorola had intended to release some mechanism to talk to the charger via the same protocol as is used to communicate with the displays. One thing's for sure, it's not gonna talk to a PC monitor.
This is kind of what I thought the IMPRES reader was going to be, originally, and I was all psyched... so much for that.

Thanks akardam, would have been nice to be able to plug in a regular monitor. I had pulled the cover off and saw that it was wired, but didn't trace the wires.

The 15 pin connector on the back of all the bank impres chargers can be used. You need to have the IMPRES Fleet Management Software NNTN7676 and IMPRES Fleet Management Charger Interface Unit NNTN7677 this setup will provide you with all the inforamtion on the battery without having look at those little displays that are changing all the time. I have this setup and it works great to take full advanage of the software you need a EID but if you just want to see the battery information you DONT need it.
Also the charger does NOT need to have displays for this to work and will provide you more information then the displays. For example first charge, when battery was made, service life, and other useful information. Cost is alot less then 6 displays I can tell you that.

The "Entitlement ID" unlocks the software so you can save the data you see from the battery screen. If you dont need to save information on batteries or assign a name to a battery then it works great without it.

If you have any pictures of a unit in operation and how it interfaces to the computer, and wouldn't mind sharing them with the board, that'd be great.

A little thread resurrection. Can anyone confirm that if I get this interface and software without the Entitlement ID, it's still the case that there is worthwhile functionality? I have a fleet of about 30 XTS's, and I'd like to get a decent handle on the status of all of the batteries - periodically run them through the bank charger to gather data. I'd also like to see the manual for the software, but so far haven't been able to find it online.

You will still have local functionality without the EID. You won't be able to save battery data, either, if I recall correctly. It won't be a doorstop if you don't have the EID, I can say that much
