XTS 2500 Volume Knob Replacement?

Post by YUKKURi »

Hey guys, new to the Batboard and don't really have anything too interesting to say for an intro, but I woke up this morning to find that our adventurous teething kitten had gotten up to where I keep my XTS 2500 and had left a nice big bite-mark in the volume knob before I shooed her away. It still functions fine, it just doesn't look all that pretty, so I'm planning on ordering a new knob and this repair tool to swap out the old one. Judging by the photos, is removing the old knob as simple as placing the tool under it and lifting it off? And do I have to buy a replacement washer as well if I'm swapping knobs? Or can I just reuse the current one if it's still good?

Thanks!

What radios do you own?: /\/\ AS, APX7000

You should be able to pop that knob off and back on without issue using smaller end of that tool. If the current washer is ok you should be able to still use it.

Batdude's Guide to Astro Radios has a good description of the XTS knobs and how to replace them.

Thanks for that! However, that guide's for the 3K/5K. Slightly different. Already ordered the tool, though. Still waiting on the damn thing. Already got my replacement knob, too.
