MSF 5000 TSTAT Alarm and other odd things

Post by tskilbride »

I replaced C702, 706, 838, 840, 842, and 851. I accidentally installed C702 backwards. Repeater worked, but capacitor blew within a couple hours of firing the machine up. I left the machine shut down until another capacitor arrived. I replaced C702 again (the right way this time) and the machine acts all weird after about 15 minutes. Random lights blinking, resetting, lights on that shouldn't be, ect. . . OTA I'm getting 5 beeps indicting a TSTAT alarm. Any ideas as to what else could be wrong?

Check all the power supplies: 5V, 9.6V, raw 14V. Should all be within 5% with less than a few millivolts of noise, hum, and ripple. Watch them to see if any are doing strange things after about 15 minutes. Maybe the regulators got stressed.

When C702 blew, did it leave residue all over the SCM and did you clean it all off?
