XTL1500 VHF blows fuse
Is the polarity reversal protection diode the only thing that can cause a short across the power connector and not burn? Have you ever changed the diode on this model? Any tips?

This might seem like an overly simple question, but is the fuse that is blowing the ignition or the high current fuse?

The audio and RF PAs could blow the fuse too, but the diode is the most likely thing. In the XTLs it's a surface mount 24V transient suppressor mounted right near the power jack, could be on top or bottom of board depending on which model radio.
