What's needed to convert MCS2000 trunk mount to front mount?
I put a WTB looking for a front mount MCS2000. Someone replied with a trunk mount version, but we're not sure what it takes to make it front mount. I've played with Spectra's, & all that was needed was an interconnect board. Nothing else was needed. Is it as easy for the MCS2000, or are other parts needed. Thanks. GARY

Probably depends on whether this MCS2000 is a Model 1, 2 or 3.

Sorry, model 3. There seems to be a plastic adapter because the control head seems to be larger than the body of the radio. GARY

Never mind, as I found a front mount radio locally. GARY

In answer to your question in case anyone else needs to know.
Per Motorola Doc 6881083C20-B(MCS2000 Mobile Radio Service Instructions Non Frequency Range Specific)
on Page 10-8 for a Model 2 Exploded View Diagram you would need the two plastic parts below to make a
Remote Mount into a Dash Mount.
Retention Frame 0704779P01
Housing Gasket 3202462Y03
You also need to remove from the Control Head the "Back Housing" 1502455Y05
so it can be mated to the Transceiver chassis. (Note: For Model 2)

Interesting, so there is no interconnect board like on a Spectra. GARY

That's correct. The control head "header" pins that the remote cable plug into plug directly into the radio when the radio is configured as a dash mount.
There is a "header" that is required when going from dash to remote mount that installs on the radio side to allow the cable to mate with the radio end, but it's a common part available from elsewhere than Motorola.
