I've opened other topics within this forum about how to possibly integrate these and other radios into our telephone system as a means to diversify their usage across several buildings from one location, and have met with some success, but have hit a roadblock on how to channel the XPR 5550 remotely.
The local dealer gave us the pins to use on the rear accessory connector for the remoting of the the transmit, receive, and PTT, but so far we can't figure out how to channel this radio remotely, a function that is necessary in the event of a major emergency (plane crash, hurricanes, etc.). The local dealer selling these radios wanted to additionally sell the L3276 Tone Remote adapters, but in reading about that, and not having found any technical information on the radio itself via the internet, I'm not so sure that L3276 is right for the job. According to Jim on this forum, and a few others pitching in their comments, this adapter is designed a type of DC binary channeling, putting grounds on specific pins of the accessory connector in order to tell it which channel to select. For the life of me, I can't figure out how to wire the L3276 to the XPR 5550.
We won't get these radios until late this week, along with the CPS, and that will only give us about 1/2 day to figure things out... this job ends this Friday, and then we pack up and go on to the next one over the weekend.
Anyone have any experience remote channeling the XPR 5550? Is the L3276 the correct adapter to do this?
Many thanks to those that can help us.
