MaxTrac RSS won't store codeplug

Post by WA3VJB »

Hi,

The factory RSS for my MaxTrac loaded fine on my old computer and I can program the current workspace through the RIB to the radio.

I cannot SAVE that profile on the computer for some reason, even though I've set up the directory correctly.

I get a "path not found' response.

Anyone remember having this problem back in the day, and what was the solution?

I can take some screen shots to illustrate.

I tried to compare with the MT1000 RSS, and it's similar, and I've successfully saved profiles on several radios.

Thanks,

Paul

Maxtrac RSS only runs in real DOS. And to make maters worse the RSS does not understand NTFS.

What radios do you own?: CDM's, CP's, CM's, and more

Been a while since I used that software, but if memory serves, it will only store codeplugs in one of the sub-folders where the program file resides. Several other RSS's from back then did the same thing. For some reason, Motorola didn't want users to pick and choose where archived codeplugs were stored. You might want to poke around in there and see if the newly saved codeplug shows up.

In the main menu, go to Setup (F9) and make sure the paths are set correctly. Save them (F8), then exit the program and restart it and go back to Setup and verify that they actually GOT saved. If they didn't, make sure ALL of the files in the directory where the program resides, and all of the sub-directories under that, are NOT marked read-only. Use the DOS "attrib" command to turn off read-only on the files in the directory and all those below it. The configuration file must be able to be written to, and that's where the paths are maintained.

Thanks to all.

Will boot up the old Toshiba and poke around after we get the dogs in from their run for the afternoon.

Will advise results.
